ALAMOSA

 

At one time had microwave link to Blanca (to the east).

 

CORTEZ

 

Original Mountain States Telephone office with microwave links to Goodman Point (to the west) and Madden (to the east).

 

CREEDE

 

Operated by Century Telephone Company of Eagle, Colorado to serve the small (400 population) town of Creede.

GRAND JUNCTION "MAIN"

 

Grand Junction "Main" is the tandem/toll office for the Grand Junction region in western Colorado.  Originally a Mountain States Telephone office that became a Primary office with the Direct Distance Dialing plan and had a direct link to the Sectional Denver Tandem office.  By the late 1970's, Coax cable connected Grand Junction east to Rifle (Denver route), west to Salt Lake City and South to Delta (to Farmington).  Microwave routes were to Baxter Pass, Palisade and Whitewater.

 

LOVELAND

 

 



NUNN

Small telephone office, run by independent Nunn Telephone Company, serving the town of Nunn (population 471) just outside the Colorado/Wyoming border.



OVID

Original Mountain Bell remote switch hosted from Sterling, Colorado serving the small town of Ovid (population 330), only a few miles from the Colorado/Nebraska border.  Also known as the Julesburg Exchange.
